EARPHONE CONNECTION DETECTION SYSTEM AND TERMINAL UNIT SUPPORTING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in the detection of an earphone connection to a terminal unit that noise generated by an electrical connection when earphones are inserted into the terminal unit poses inconvenience to the user, and that although a conventional earphone connection detection process relied on the use of ground terminals installed in the earphones to check a change of states in electrical connection, a state of earphones inserted into place cannot always be detected correctly when shorting or other trouble occurs in the earphones.

SOLUTION: Regarding the detection of an earphone connection to a terminal unit, the present invention discloses the composition of an earphone connection detection system in which a physical change due to an earphone connection is detected especially as an electrical change by making use of a switching device which is electrically insulated from the earphones, thereby providing a support for making it possible to detect an earphone connection.
