<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a stack configuration using line ports that the user needs to make stack port settings on line ports used as stack ports in a representative device among all devices constituting the stack configuration, at which time the serial numbers of all devices must be checked because device specification is made by a serial number, giving rise to user burdens, which holds true especially when ring aggregation is used. <P>SOLUTION: A frame having a device identifier and receiving port information added thereto is transmitted and received between network devices constituting a stack.
