PURPOSE: A flux for steel manufacturing is provided to reduce the problems caused by hydrogen in molten steel by reducing the amount of quicklime used put into during steel converter tapping. CONSTITUTION: A flux for steel manufacturing comprises, in wt%; CaO 55-60; Al_ 2O_ 3 30-40; Mg 9 or less; and unavoidable impurities 7 or less. The Mg reacts to the Fe oxide of slag and reduces the T Fe.content of the slag. The basicity according to the content ratio of the CaO and the Al_ 2O_ 3 is in the range of 1.3 to 1.7.
