A liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof are provided to enable the LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device to capture an image by applying an image sensing function to the LCD device. A liquid crystal display device includes an LCD panel, a DC/DC converter(174), and a switch portion. A sensor TFT(Thin Film Transistor) is formed on the LCD panel, which has a display mode and an image sensor mode. The sensor TFT detects light containing image information. The DC/DC converter steps up or down an input voltage from a power supply and generate a first driving voltage for the sensor TFT. The switch portion is arranged between the DC/DC converter and the LCD panel and selectively supplies the first driving voltage to a first source electrode of the sensor TFT. |
