The present invention relates to a system and a method of auto-calibration of a device (D1) for measuring speed of a vehicle travelling in a three-dimensional space. The system is characterized in that it comprises: - means for measuring the speed (V1) of the vehicle on the basis of images of this vehicle acquired by a camera of this speed measuring device, - another device (D2) for measuring speed, and - means (CH) for choosing calibration parameters for the camera as being those which minimize an error calculated between the speed (V1) measured on the basis of images of this vehicle acquired by said camera (C) and a speed (V2) measured by said other speed measuring device.
