PURPOSE: An MDPS(Motor Driven Power Steering) system tuning method using a portable terminal is provided to improve user convenience and emotional quality by directly tuning and setting an MDPS system. CONSTITUTION: A portable terminal requests state information to an MDPS system(S20). The MDPS system collects the state information(S40). The portable terminal analyzes the state information to generate tuning information and analysis information and to transmit the same to the MDPS system(S60). The MDPS system performs tuning and setting by using the tuning information and the analysis information(S70). The tuning information includes steering mode information of the MDPS system. The analysis information includes a zero steering angle, a zero torque trim, and diagnosis records.
