<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a range for acceleration/deceleration recording operation in an acceleration or deceleration section in each pass, on the basis of image data. <P>SOLUTION: A carriage moves, in each pass, in an acceleration section in which the carriage is accelerated to a predetermined fixed speed, a constant speed section in which the carriage is moved at the fixed speed after the acceleration section, and a deceleration section in which the carriage is decelerated from the fixed speed after the constant speed section. An inkjet head performs constant speed recording operation for recording an image on recording paper by jetting ink in the constant speed section, and acceleration/deceleration recording operation for recording the image on the recording paper by jetting the ink in the acceleration section or the deceleration section. A recording range in a scanning direction, which is recorded in each pass, is set from the input image data.
