<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved buckle device. <P>SOLUTION: The buckle device for an automobile includes: a lock tongue 4 that is inserted to a buckle; and a deflection element 1 that is connected to the lock tongue 4, divides a seat belt 2 into a shoulder belt region 7 and a lap belt region 5, and deflects the seat belt in such a way that the two regions 7 and 5 extend while being spaced from the deflection element in a direction different from each other.
