PURPOSE: An image display device and an operation method thereof are provided to quickly and accurately locate a pointer in a position a user wants according to input of a direction key. CONSTITUTION: An image display device enters a pointer display mode(S1210). A pointer is displayed on a display(S1215). According to a first direction key input, the pointer is moved/displayed in a first direction(S1225). According to a second direction key input, the pointer is moved/displayed in the second direction(S1235). According to a third direction key input, the pointer is moved/displayed in the third direction(S1245).
