摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system, optical network unit, and communication control method capable of reducing delay time until multicasting of a communication signal to the optical network unit becomes possible in the communication system in which the optical network unit can perform sleep operation. <P>SOLUTION: A communication system 301 comprises: a sleep control part 36 for controlling respective optical network units 202 so that an overlapping period, in which a part or all of respective wake-up periods of the respective optical network units 202 are overlapped, is provided; and a wake-up control part 36 for broadcasting a wake-up command so that the wake-up command reaches the respective optical network units 202 in the overlapping period when a communication signal to be multicast from an optical line terminal 101 to the optical network units 202 is generated.
