[Problem] To provide a means for more adequately assessing the actual service life of a brush. [Solution] A brush service life assessment device equipped with: an engine; an engine starter; a crank rotational frequency acquisition unit; a first storage unit; and an assessment unit. The engine starter is equipped with a brush. The crank rotational frequency acquisition unit obtains the crank rotational frequency of the engine. The first storage unit stores a threshold value indicating the crank rotational frequency at the end of the service life of the brush. The assessment unit assesses the service life of the brush on the basis of whether the crank rotational frequency has fallen below the threshold value.
