<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-invasive detection method of fetal genetic traits. <P>SOLUTION: This method for performing non-invasive detection of fetal genetic traits includes: subjecting a sample of the blood plasma or serum of a pregnant woman to a size separation so as to obtain a fraction of the sample in which the extracellular DNA present therein substantially consists of DNA comprising 500 base pairs or less; and determining in the sample-fraction the fetal genetic trait(s) to be detected. Such detection can be effected by methods such as PCR (polymerase chain reaction) technology, ligand chain reaction, probe hybridization techniques, or nucleic acid arrays. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
