PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for detecting an event in a moving image.

SOLUTION: An event detection device includes: input means for inputting a plurality of time series images; first extraction means for extracting a set of first image sample strings respectively differing in a scale of sample from a first time range of the plurality of time series images on the basis of a first scale parameter; second extraction means for extracting a set of second image sample strings respectively differing in a scale of sample from a second time range of the plurality of time series images on the basis of a second scale parameter; degree of dissimilarity calculation means for calculating a degree of dissimilarity of the first and the second image sample strings on the basis of the sets of the first and the second image sample strings; and detection means for detecting an event from the plurality of time series images on the basis of the degree of dissimilarity.
