<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a large amount of metal nitride having high impurity rapidly and inexpensively; and to provide a high-brightness phosphor using the metal nitride. <P>SOLUTION: A method of producing a metal nitride includes: casting at least one particulate metal selected from a group comprising lanthanum, cerium, calcium, and strontium into a furnace; filling the furnace with a nitriding gas containing at least a nitride atom; and nitriding a metal at temperature equal to or larger than a nitriding response start temperature of the metal but equal to or lower than the melting point of the metal by 20°C or larger while applying a motion to the particulate metal in the furnace. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
