摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal element having a high contrast ratio, and a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal element comprises a pair of polarizers 108a and 108b, a structure 103b including a liquid crystal placed between the pair of polarizers, a pair of substrates 101 and 102 which hold the structure including the liquid crystal, and a pair of electrodes 106a and 106b which apply an electric field to the structure including the liquid crystal. One of the pair of electrodes is disposed at one of the pair of substrates, while the other of the pair of electrodes is disposed at either one of the pair of substrates. The structure including a liquid crystal for use in the liquid crystal element comes in contact with a stabilization region 104 disposed at least at one of the pair of substrates and includes a liquid crystal having a uniform wavelength of diffraction in blue phase light.
