An oil boom skimmer member for oil spill recovery, in particular for collecting oil from a water surface, comprising a skimmer arrangement integrated into an oil boom member, is described. Also described is an oil recovery system, in particular for collecting oil from a water surface, comprising a plurality of such oil boom skimmer members connected in series to form an oil spill recovery boom apparatus. A guiding boom is connected to each of the outermost oil boom members, and the guiding booms are also connected to a vessel for operating the system. Through the use of trawl technology the skimmer oil boom apparatus can be operated by only one vessel when needed.
