The method involves switching the control signal (S) supplied in dependence on control unit, between a sleep mode and an operating mode. The control unit of idle mode is switched to the operation mode based on the change in state of component of the motor car indicated by the control signal. A counter for counter reading is provided to increment switching of the control unit from rest mode to the operating mode, and to reduce switching of control unit from the rest mode to operating mode below a limit value for the count.
