An air conditioning system and a method for operating the same are provided to enable effective control of a plurality of indoor and outdoor units by requesting weather information and resetting the operating conditions of the units based on the whether information. An air conditioning system comprise a plurality of indoor and outdoor units(40,50), a server(20), and a central control unit(10). The server is capable of providing requested weather information by storing weather information received from a weather service(30). The central control unit requests weather information to the server, and controls the operations of the indoor and the outdoor units based on the received weather information from the server. A method for operating the air conditioning system comprises the steps of: sensing information on the location of the indoor and the outdoor units; requesting weather information to the server according to the sensed location information; and reading the weather information from the server and adjusting the heating and the cooling temperature of the indoor and the outdoor units. |
