A backlight device (illumination device) (12) comprises: LEDs (light sources) (17); a light guide plate (16) further comprising a light entry face (16b) which is positioned facing the LEDs (17) and wherethrough light from the LEDs (17) enters, and a light emission face (16a) which emits the light which has entered; a plurality of LED substrates (18) whereon the LEDs (17) are mounted, the plate faces thereof being positioned to face the light entry face (16b); and substrate-side relay terminal parts (22) which are disposed on the plurality of LED substrates (18) for relaying supplied power to the LEDs (17), said substrate-side relay terminal parts (22) configured to be connectable even if relay wiring members (relay members) (28) which electrically connect a power source substrate (power source) (PWB) with the substrate-side relay terminal parts (22) are rotated in either obverse or reverse in the plate thickness direction of the light guide plate (16).
