<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display unit having a transistor with enhanced reliability, without increase of the number of photomasks for use in a manufacturing process. <P>SOLUTION: A display unit is manufactured without increase of the number of photomasks, skipping a photolithography step and an etching step for forming an island-shaped semiconductor layer. Specifically, a liquid crystal display unit is manufactured through the five photolithography steps of: forming a gate electrode; forming a protective layer for reducing damage in the steps of forming a gate electrode, etching, and the like; forming a source electrode and a drain electrode; forming a contact hole, and forming a pixel electrode. The liquid crystal display unit in one embodiment includes a groove part for dividing a semiconductor layer, which is concurrently formed in the step of forming the contact hole. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
