The intercooler (17) has an intake-side air supply chamber for supplying charging air to be cooled, and an outlet-side air exhaust chamber for discharging the cooled air. An intake-side supply line (23) and an outlet-side vent pipe (25) are connected to the intake and outlet-side chambers, respectively. A bypass pipe (26) extends between an inlet side (20) and an outlet side (21) of the intercooler. The bypass pipe is dimensioned such that an intake-side collecting condensate produced due to pressure difference between the inlet and outlet sides is guided in a direction of the outlet side. An independent claim is also included for a combustion engine.
