PURPOSE: A catalyst system is provided to ensure excellent chemical and thermal stability, and to prevent the deactivation of a catalyst by a polar functional group of a cycloolefin-based monomer. CONSTITUTION: A catalyst system for preparing a cycloolefin-based polymer comprises a metal-containing precatalyst represented by chemical formula 1:[M_x(L_1)_y(L_2)_z]and a cocatalyst represented by chemical formula 2:[Cat][Ani]which coordinates with the metal procatalyst and is a salt compound providing negative ions. In chemical formula 1, M is Group 10 metal, L1 is neutral ligand, L2 is Group 15 electron-donating neutral ligand, x is 1-2, y is 2-3, z is 0-1, and 3Δx+y+zΔ6. |
