PURPOSE: A device and a method for preventing a vehicle from colliding are provided to check the danger of collision according to operational habit of a driver by analyzing the driving speed and distance when the danger of collision is generate. CONSTITUTION: A device(10) for preventing a vehicle from colliding comprises a distance sensor(100), a speed sensor(200), and a control unit(300). The distance sensor detects the distance from an obstacle. The speed sensor measures the driving speed of the vehicle. When the distance of the control unit is less than predetermined critical distance and the driving speed is greater than the predetermined critical speed, a signal for spreading an airbag is generated.
