An outdoor unit is provided with: a compressor (1) which compresses a sucked refrigerant and discharges the refrigerant; an outdoor heat exchanger (4) which performs heat exchange between outside air and the refrigerant; an accumulator (11) which stores the liquid refrigerant on the suction side of the compressor (1); an electromagnetic valve (5) which causes the outdoor heat exchanger (4) to store the refrigerant; and a controller (21) which, at the time of a shift from a defrosting operation to a heating operation, performs control for sending the refrigerant stored in the outdoor heat exchanger (4) during the defrosting operation to the accumulator (11) on the basis of the amount of the refrigerant in the accumulator (11).
