This recording/reproduction device is provided with: optical head devices (2a, 2b) which concentrate light beams for recording and light beams for reproduction onto an optical recording medium (100) and which generate a signal on the basis of the light beams reflected from the optical recording medium; and a control unit (6) which forms a recording mark on the optical recording medium by irradiating the optical recording medium with the light beams for recording and which controls the light head devices (2a, 2b) such that the recording mark is read from the optical recording medium by means of the light beams for reproduction. After the formation of a recording mark on the optical recording medium begins by irradiating the optical recording medium with the light beams for recording, the optical head devices (2a, 2b) read the recording mark from the optical recording medium by means of the light beams for reproduction before the formation of the recording mark completes.
