The present invention relates to an ultra low power segmented digital to analog converter (DAC) (100) using a plularity of multi-threshold transmission gate switches (110) for converting digital data into an analog signal. The ultra low power segmented DAC (100) of the present invention comprising a coarse divider string (120) having 2M or greater coarse resistor segments (121), a fine divider string (130) having 2N or greater fine resistor segments, and a plurality of multi-threshold transmission gate switches (1 10), wherein said multi-threshold transmission gate switch (110) comprises a parallel structure of two transistors (117, 118) and a serial structure of two transistors (115, 116) for minimizing the on-resistance and preventing current leakage of the switch.
