The embodiments of the present invention relate to a method for triggering an LTE single-card dual-standby multi-mode terminal to perform combined registration, and a terminal, for solving the technical problem in the prior art that when performing LTE network and 2G/3G network registrations respectively, the number of network signalling interactions increase, the waste of air interface resources increases and the electricity consumption of the terminal increases, realizing combined registration of the LTE network and the 2G/3G network, reducing air interface signalling consumption, reducing the power consumption of the terminal, and prolonging the standby time of the terminal. The combined registration method includes: a terminal determining a location area number identifier of a 2G/3G network to be registered; the terminal sending an attachment request message to a mobility management entity of an LTE network, the attachment request message containing the location area number identifier so as to trigger the terminal and the mobility management entity of the LTE network to perform combined registration of the LTE network and the 2G/3G network together.
