The method involves utilizing volumes (V14.1, V14.2, V16.1, V16.2) developed by left and right shifting of shifting pistons (26, 28) in shifting cylinders (14, 16) at a time for opening shifting valves (18, 20, 22, 24) to determine pressure requests for shifting operations at predetermined mathematical computation cycles. Values of the pressure requests are stored in a control unit, and main shut-off valves (8, 10) are actuated based on the values. The developed volumes are considered relative to a storage volume (Vvor) in the previous computation cycle.
