The sound transmission system (10) has an intake sound transmission unit (11) coupled with an air intake pipe (13) leading to an internal combustion engine over a tubular connecting element (12) and with the vehicle interior over another tubular connecting element (14). A damping unit (18) and a switchable shut-off device (19) are arranged between the air intake pipe and the intake sound transmission unit. The intake sound transmission unit is effective and the damping unit is ineffective by opening the shut-off device.
