<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film for achieving a high-saturation liquid crystal display unit, having saturation enhancement function during reflection of light beams; a surface light source device including the same; and a liquid crystal display unit. <P>SOLUTION: An optical film in an embodiment comprises at least one stack having a plurality of basic pairs composed of lamination of a first and a second layers which have different refractive indexes. The number of the stacks, the difference in refractive index between the first and second layers, and the number of the basic pairs are configured such that the reflection spectrum of at least one entire stack coincides with a target reflection spectrum. The target reflection spectrum includes a first and a second reflection spectrum components in a predetermined wavelength range, corresponding to a first and a second polarization light beams. Each of the reflection spectrum components has a reflectance of 50% or higher, and at least one reflection peak region including a spectrum region with a wavelength width of 20 to 60 nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
