<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a communication system which can reduce power consumption by a simple configuration in a PON system. <P>SOLUTION: A communication system is composed of a subscriber device 1 and a station side device 3. In this communication system, the subscriber device 1 comprises: a subscriber sleep control unit which periodically executes a sleep period in which the functions of the local device are partly disabled and an active period in which the disabled functions are reactivated under control from the station side device 3; and a temporary activation frame generation unit which generates a temporary activation frame indicating that the local device has entered an active period and transmits it to the station side device 3. The station side device 3 comprises: a temporary activation frame recognition unit which recognizes that a temporary activation frame has been received; and a station side sleep control unit which corrects the start timing of the sleep period of the subscriber device 1 recognized in the local device on the basis of notification from the temporary activation frame recognition unit or controls the sleep and the active periods in the subscriber device 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
