<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint easy to secure rigidity and strength without extremely increasing its weight, and a drive mechanism using the joint. <P>SOLUTION: The joint 1 includes a first cylindrical part P1 in which a first rod B1 is inserted, a second cylindrical part P2 in which a second rod B2 is inserted, and a connecting part 3 for connecting the first cylindrical part P1 and the second cylindrical part P2. In the connecting part 3, a through hole 10 is formed and a reinforcing rib 5 for dividing the through holes 10 into a plurality of areas is formed in a shape projected on an XZ plane, the width of the connecting part 3 is wider in a position nearer to the first cylindrical part P1 in the shape projected on an XY plane, the maximum width of the connecting part 3 is larger than the width of the second cylindrical part P2, and the maximum width of the connecting part 3 appears on a side near the second cylindrical part P2.
