An approach for enabling seamless access to content across multiple devices in common with a single user is presented. A shared indexing service determines one or more indices associated with data associated with a respective one or more devices, wherein the data, the respective one or more devices, or a combination thereof have at least one common owner. The shared indexing service further processes and /or facilitates a processing of the one or more indices to generate a shared index for access by the one or more devices, one or more other devices, or a combination thereof. |
