The method involves extending partial profiles (4,5) of elongate hollow section (1) in longitudinal direction. The first profile is produced as U-shaped or hat-shaped partial profile, while second profile is provided with flat pick-up flanges. The edges of legs (9) of first profile are connected firmly with interior of pick-up flanges (10) of second profile by gluing process. The edges of legs of first profile is connected to above connecting flanges in longitudinal direction, such that edges of legs of first profile are secured to second profile against lateral displacement. An independent claim is included for a profile component.
