PURPOSE: A tap sensing device and a tap sensing method are provided to sense a tap by using properties of tap signals, thereby improving the accuracy of sensing the tap. CONSTITUTION: A tap sensing device comprises a sensor(110), an inclination calculator(121), a similarity determination unit(122), a tap determining unit(120), and an output unit(130). The sensor senses motions, thereby outputting output signals according to the motions. The inclination calculator is connected to the sensor and calculates an inclination of the output signals output by the sensor. The similarity determination unit is connected to the inclination calculator and determines the inclination similarity of a rising portion and a falling portion of a curve formed by the output signals. The tap determination unit is connected to the similarity determination unit and determines the existence of sensing the tap according to a determination result of the similarity determination unit.
