<p>A system (10) for automated tow coupling, the system comprising: a towing unit (100) configured for connection to a towing vehicle (500) and having a hook (126) connected therein; a towed unit (200) configured for connection to a second vehicle (600), the second vehicle to be towed by the towing vehicle, the towed unit comprising: a detachable unit (224) detachably connected to a connector (210) attached to the second vehicle; a cable (226) connected to the detachable unit, wherein the hook is configured for automated fastening to the cable when the towing vehicle advances towards the second vehicle; and a flexible prolonged connection means (223) connected to the detachable unit, the connection means configured to be connected to the second vehicle at a distal end of the connection means, wherein when the detachable unit is pulled away from the second vehicle, it detaches from the connector and remains connected to the second vehicle by the flexible prolonged connection means.
