842,326. Semi-conductor switching circuits. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION. Oct. 25, 1956 [Oct. 28, 1955], No. 32521/56. Class 40(6). [Also in Group XXXVI] An electric coherer comprises a pair of electrodes, one at least being faced with a resistive material, separated by a quantity of metallic powder. Fig. 3 shows copper electrodes 29a, 30a, each faced with a carbon layer 31, 32 and separated by metallic powder 34. The thickness of the resistive layer is sufficient to maintain the potential across the coherer after one firing path (39<SP>1</SP>) is established sufficiently high that other firing paths (e.g. 37<SP>1</SP>, 42<SP>1</SP>) may still be provided, and thus stabilize the operating characteristics. A switching matrix employing such coherers is described. |
