The method involves detecting an accelerator pedal rough signal (18) with a sensor (16), and generating a haptic feedback at an accelerator pedal (12) by an actuator (14). The accelerator pedal rough signal is latched, if no haptic feedback is generated. A smoothed accelerator pedal signal (24) is determined based on a stored accelerator pedal rough signal, when haptic feedback is generated. The stored accelerator pedal rough signal is compared with the current accelerator pedal signal. The stored accelerator pedal rough signal is updated with the current accelerator pedal rough signal. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a controller for a vehicle; (2) a computer program executed on a processor for performing the accelerator pedal signal smoothing method; and (3) a computer-readable medium for storing the computer program. |
