The method involves determining a moving profile of a motor vehicle based on a set of parameters that is evaluated constantly. An introduction unit is utilized for introduction of an additive into a fuel tank of the vehicle. A proportion of the additive in the fuel tank of the vehicle is adjusted automatically and continuously based on the moving profile of the vehicle. A target proportion of the additive is calculated by utilizing a set of calculation units (1, 2) based on instantaneous speed of the vehicle. Quantity of fuel in the tank is calculated. An independent claim is also included for a device for optimization of a process of combustion of polluting particles.
