Image-processing system and method using mobile device and its location

An image-processing system and method comprises peripheral devices 10 (such as a printer, scanner or multi-functional peripheral), a mobile device 11 (such as a mobile phone, PDA or laptop) and a server 13. The peripheral devices register communication parameters and associated location information with the server; the mobile device sends a request to the server with its own location information (determined by GPS, for example); wherein the server identifies a specific peripheral device based on the location information of the mobile device and the location information of the peripheral devices. The server may identify a nearby peripheral device, the closest peripheral device, or a peripheral device that is within a predetermined distance of the mobile device location. When there is more than one (a plurality of) peripheral device within the predetermined distance of the mobile device, the server may request that the user select one.
