PURPOSE: A portable terminal and a control method thereof are provided to easily apply the home screen configuration of other terminals to a user terminal. CONSTITUTION: A control unit enters a home screen sharing mode with an external terminal(S101). The control unit connects to the external terminal(S102). The control unit displays a home screen image through a display module by receiving the home screen image of the external terminal from the connected external terminal(S103). The control unit arranges one or more items on the home screen of the portable terminal by selecting the one or more items from the home screen of the external terminal(S104,S105).
