PURPOSE: A light emitting device is provided to reduce a stress due to the difference of the lattice constant between an active layer and an electron barrier layer, by using a buffer layer formed between the active layer and the electron barrier layer. CONSTITUTION: A second conductive semiconductor layer(127) is arranged on a first conductive semiconductor layer(122). An active layer(124) is arranged between the first conductive semiconductor layer and the second conductive semiconductor layer. An electron barrier layer(126) is arranged between the active layer and the second conductive semiconductor layer. A buffer layer(125-1) is arranged between the active layer and the electron barrier layer. The buffer layer includes a first layer(S1), a second layer(S2), and a third layer(S3).
