摘要 <p>Coating compositions comprise a volatile dispersing vehicle, a normally solid polymer of a perfluorohaloolefin containing 2 or 3 carbon atoms, and between 5 and 60 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of said solid polymer of an oxide of antimony, manganese, nickel or cobalt, said oxide being capable of passing through a 100 mesh screen (U.S. Standard Sieve Series). The polymers may be homopolymers of chlorotrifluorethylene, bromo-trifluoroethylene or tetrafluoroethylene, or copolymers of the above monomers or perfluoropropene with vinyl fluoride, vinylidene fluoride, vinylidene chloride, trifluoroethylene, chorofluoroethylene or 1,1,3-trifluorobutadiene. The metal oxide, which may be in the form of a frit, may be cobaltons, cobaltic, cobaltocobaltic, manganous, manganic oxides, manganese heptoxide or dioxide, nickelous, nickelic, nickelous-nickelic oxides, nickel peroxides and antimony trioxide, tetroxide and pentoxide. The dispersing vehicle may be benzene, toluene, xylene, methyl ethyl ketone, diisobutyl ketone, diphenyl ketone, amyl acetate, ethyl acetate, ethyl propionate or mixtures of water with acetone, butanol or pentanol. The compositions may also contain stabilisers, e.g. barium peroxide, lead dioxide, chromic oxide, chromic sulphide, cadmium oxide, zinc sulphide, molybdenum trioxide, molybdenum sulphide, stannic oxide and stannic sulphide; bonding aids, e.g. polyurethanes derived from toluene diisocyanate and polyethylene glycol or diphenylmethane diisocyanate and polyethylene glycol, polypropylene glycol, propylene glycol or propylene glycol monoricinoleate; plasticisers, e.g. low molecular weight polymers and telomers of perfluorohaloolefins such as chlorotrifluoroethylene; and inert fillers, e.g. mica and p bentonite. The compositions may be used in laminating and for coating, particularly as primer, substrates of metal, glass, concrete, asbestos and plastic. Specified polymers are homopolymers of chlorotrifluoroethylene, bromotrifluoroethylene and tetrafluoroethylene, and copolymers of the above monomers or perfluoropropene with vinyl fluoride, vinylidene fluoride, vinylidene chloride, trifluoroethylene, chlorofluoroethylene or 1,1,3 - trifluorobutadiene. The compositions may also contain stabilizers, e.g. metal oxides and sulphides; bonding aids, e.g. polyurethanes; plasticizers, e.g. low molecular weight polymers and telomers of perfluorohaloolefins; and inert fillers, e.g. mica and bentonite; lists of such components being given. In Examples (1) steel panels are coated with two coats of primer comprising polychlorotrifluoroethylene, cobaltous oxide frit, polychlorotrifluoroethylene wax, xylene and diisobutyl ketone, followed by six coats of a dispersion of polychlorotrifluoroethylene; (2 and 4) steel rods and (3) glass cloth reinforced epoxy resin tubes are coated with two coats of primer comprising polychlorotrifluoroethylene, cobaltous oxide frit, chlorotrifluoroethylene-vinylidene fluoride copolymer and amyl acetate followed by (2 and 4) 4 coats and (3) 3 coats of polychlorotrifluoroethylene and chlorotrifluoroethylenevinylidene fluoride copolymer in amyl acetate; (5) steel panels are coated with two coats of primer comprising polychlorotrifluoroethylene, cobaltous oxide frit, chlorotrifluoroethylene wax, xylene and diisobutyl ketone followed by 5 coats of a dispersion of polychlorotrifluoro-ethylene in xylene; and steel panels are coated with primer comprising polychlorotrifluoro-ethylene-vinylidene fluoride copolymer and xylene, followed by intermediate coats comprising polychlorotrifluoroethylene, xylene, mica, cobaltous oxide frit, (6 and 7) chromic oxide, (8) molybdenum trioxide and (9) molybdenum disulphide, followed by topcoats of a dispersion of polychlorotrifluoroethylene in xylene. The coatings are baked after application, and may also be quenched. Specifications 737,267 and 771,080 are referred to.</p>
