PURPOSE: A display device and a control method thereof are provided to prevent malfunction of a display panel driving circuit without displaying an abnormal image on a display panel when the operation mode of a timing controller is switched. CONSTITUTION: A timing controller(10) generates an internal clock signal at a maximum frequency within a frequency range. The timing controller checks input image data, determines a no-signal input period, and operates in no-signal mode during the no-signal input period and operates in normal mode during a period excluding the no-signal input period. The timing controller controls transmission timing of the data transmitted to a display panel driving circuit and operation timing of the display panel driving circuit based on the internal clock signal in normal mode and no-signal mode.
