<p>The surface of a wooden article or of an article made from pieces, particles, strands or strips of wood is contacted with a solution of a random ethylene terephthalate - ethylene isophthalate copolyester in which the ethylene terephthalate units comprise from 65 to 30% of the sum of the ethylene terephthalate and ethylene isophthalate units in the copolyester and the ethylene isophthalate units comprise from 35 to 70% of said sum, evaporating most of the solvent and completing the drying at from 200 DEG F. to 250 DEG F. The polymer may be applied as a solution in an organic solvent by brushing, roller-coating, spraying, spreading or dipping, to form a pre-finished surface. The film may be pigmented.
