[Also in Group XXIX] A valve closure unit for a male part 11 and a female part 10 of a fluid coupling joined by projection 13 on the male part engaging bayonet slots in a sleeve 12 on the female part, comprises a stem 16 formed at one end with a head 17 and at the other with a projection 25 and surrounded by resilient means, such as spring 23, which presses a sealing gasket 15 against the head and an end member 26, by which the unit is mounted in the coupling body parts, against the projection 25. A flanged sleeve 21 guided on the stem, receives the pressure of the spring to press the gasket sealingly against the head and a tapered collar of the gasket against a groove in the stem in which it seats, Fig. 3 (not shown). The Specification describes how the couplings and each unit may be readily disassembled, cleaned, the gasket replaced and reassembled.
