The safety apparatus (2) comprises a monitoring unit which is configured for monitoring several drives. A safety device (5) which has several sensors (6) that are switched between several switching states depending on a state of an elevator apparatus. Several safety devices and the monitoring unit comprise a controller (7) that identifies the respective switching states of the sensors and transmits several data and monitoring signals to the monitoring unit. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a drive apparatus; and (2) an elevator apparatus.
