The present invention relates to a method for the detection of proteins and peptides associated with cancerous cells in lung tissue samples. More specifically, the invention relates to a method of detecting significant changes in the amount and/or chemical structure of peptides and/or proteins associated with lung tumor cells. The present invention further provides a method for early diagnosis and prognosis of lung cancer and for assessing the risk of getting lung cancer.
