A communication system is provided in which a communication node can allocate resources for another communication node within a number of consecutive subframes using a single control message. The other communication node receives codewords transmitted using the allocated resources, aggregates ACK/NACK feedback for the received codewords and transmits the aggregated ACK/NACK feedback to the communication node for use in controlling subsequent transmission of new codewords or retransmission of previous codewords. The control message may include resource assignment data that assigns the same resources within each of the subframes. The control message may include modulation and coding scheme data (MCS data) indicating the same MCS will be used in each subframe. The control message may also indicate whether the codeword is new or retransmitted. The control message may include data indicating the number of consecutive subframes to which the allocation relates. The receiving node may determine a HARQ process for a codeword using a subframe number in which the codeword is received. |
