PURPOSE: A user terminal device and a background screen display method thereof are provided to conveniently use the user terminal device by displaying a background screen display for easily selecting and confirming functions and content. CONSTITUTION: A display unit(110) displays a background screen including UI lines displaying objects of different categories and a background image corresponding to the objects. A control unit(120) changes the objects displayed on the UI lines and recomposes and displays the UI lines. The length of the UI lines is individually changed and the UI lines are displayed on a side of the background image.
